I never expected my day out with the girls to Bocketts Farm Park to be such a success. They were beautifully behaved and no wonder... wow this place is geared up for youngsters.

For me, the highlight of the day, was the entertaining and somewhat charming pig race. I've never been excited about any sort of race in my life - so I was somewhat surprised with the endless enthusiasm I discovered I had, when it came to cheering on hogs - well I mean, who couldn't resist cheering on Bradley Piggins? Good job there was no where to place a bet and buy a pint. Ahem!

Who will win?

Highlight of the day for the girls was the pony ride. (Fia's first ever). Such a safe tranquil setting too. The surrounding area is not only beautiful, but the farm itself is easy on the eye everywhere you look; clean and well maintained. There are plenty of amiable staff too, all more than willing to help you, should you ask.

The facilities are very good: food/drink eating areas, play parks, trampolines, adventure slides, ride -on toys and tractors.

Also, if it happens to be wet weather, there's plenty to keep children occupied indoors. They have a super play barn and other numerous indoor activities going on, such as animal handling.

The animals are 'happy' if you know what I mean? They are clearly well cared for.

The girls enjoyed getting up close to a variety of animals, getting to feed them, and even trying their hand at milking a goat. (And a cow - well actually a wooden cut out of a cow complete with spraying teets, where water is squeezed into a bucket thus simulating the hand milking process). Esme Grace at 5, totally got it. Fia at 2 however, was far more wary, and didn't want to touch it - asking: "Mummy, is that its willy?"

KEEP IN MIND:
Be prepared to pay extra for pony rides (£2) and tractor rides (£1.25) and animal feed (90p).

LIFE AS IT IS BLOG - THE VERDICT:
Ride a tractor, watch a pig race and cuddle a rabbit; all available options at the award winning Bocketts Farm Park, a seriously fun and fabulous day out, whatever the weather.
